Mr. Novak, the Praxis’ Principal, has specific expertise in the creation of housing for special needs populations, including the frail elderly, people with AIDS, and the homeless. From 1999 through 2002, he served as a project manager for Affirmative Investments of Boston, overseeing the development of three tax credit supported housing and assisted living residences for public housing authorities. As Associate Director of Affordable Housing Resource Council in Reno, Mr. Novak directed the development of Silver Sky Assisted Living in Las Vegas, Nevada’s first affordable assisted living residence using tax credit equity and Medicaid waiver reimbursement. Mr. Novak recently provided project management services to Silver Sage Manor, Inc. in the development of the Silver Sage Senior Residence, a 41-unit affordable senior rental development, which opened in 2007. He is currently assisting Silver Sage with their second senior apartment project. He is also assisting Step 1, Inc. with the developemnt of a 20-bed facility serving ex-offenders with substance addictions.
