Praxis Consulting Group provided development consulting and finance services to Step 1, Incorporated, a fifteen year old Reno non-profit serving ex-offenders with substance addictions. The Step 1 Residence project entailed the acquisition and renovation of Step 1’s residence, a circa-1924 house near the University of Nevada. The project also included the new construction of a 16-bed dormitory structure at the rear of the property. The new Residence will provide housing for 20 individuals, a commercial kitchen, offices and supportive service space. It will significantly improve the living conditions of clients as they seek treatment. The financing includes HUD HOME / state LIHTF funds, Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Housing Program funds, and a special allocation of transitional housing funds from the state of Nevada. The project opened in December 2009.
